Description
Discover Castel Sant’Angelo, one of the most beautiful monuments in the capital. Built in Roman times as the tomb of Emperor Hadrian, it was converted into a papal fortress in the early Renaissance and houses a prison and a place of execution.
Connected to the Vatican Palace via an elevated walkway, it was used by popes to escape in case of danger.
